Danbury, CT, September 18, 2024 – Corporate Angel Network (CAN), a nonprofit organization that provides cancer patients free transportation on business aircraft so they can travel to specialized medical centers, has relocated to new offices at 107 Mill Plain Road in Danbury, CT.

CT Governor Ned Lamont heralded the arrival of CAN in Danbury. “Corporate Angel Network provides an incredible and valuable service to cancer patients in their most significant times of need, and I am so glad to welcome this respected organization and its staff to Connecticut.”

Many cancer patients face formidable challenges, especially when it comes to accessing specialized treatment in distant locations. Transportation becomes a critical issue, particularly for those living in remote areas or facing financial hardships. CAN is able to provide air transportation by relying on the generosity of corporate flight departments and other aircraft operators who offer unused seats on their aircraft. Last year, CAN flew more than 2,000 patient flights.

“With more than 600,000 cancer deaths and two million new cancer cases each year, our challenge is to provide many more patients with this service,” said CAN President and CEO Robert Stangarone. “While we are incredibly proud of the number of people we have helped, our efforts are limited by the availability of flight resources.

“For years, patient requests for flights have outnumbered aircraft available by a factor of two,” Stangarone noted. To address this shortfall, CAN recently expanded the fleet of aircraft available for patient transportation from only jets to the thousands of single- and twin-engine turboprop aircraft currently in operation.

Participation in CAN’s program is open to all cancer patients, as well as bone marrow and stem cell donors and recipients, who are ambulatory and do not require medical assistance while traveling.
