IBM Donates Computers to Corporate Angel Network
White Plains, NY—May 16, 2006—IBM Corporation has
generously donated a new server, along with desktop computers, and
flat panel monitors to Corporate Angel Network (CAN), the non-profit
that arranges free flights for cancer patients in the empty seats
of routine business flights.
“The IT infrastructure improvements resulting from
this generous donation will increase the speed and efficiency of
our ability to help cancer patients,” said CAN’s Chairman Randall
Greene. “We are extremely grateful that IBM has chosen to support
us in this way.”
“IBM is pleased to be able to support Corporate Angel
Network and the wonderful work the organization does to help cancer
patients win their battle,” said Paula Baker, IBM’s Vice President,
Global Community Initiatives.
Corporate Angel Network arranges free flights for
cancer patients using the empty seats on routine business flights.
Since its founding 25 years ago, CAN has grown to include 530 participating
corporations, five paid staff, and a team of 50 part-time volunteers
who work with patients, physicians, corporate flight departments,
and leading treatment centers to coordinate medical travel needs
of cancer patients with the scheduled flight activity of participating
corporations. To date, CAN has arranged nearly 25,000 flights and
currently provides about 200 patient flights a month. CAN has received
numerous awards in recognition of its service to cancer patients,
including The Volunteer Action Award, the highest volunteer award
from the President of the United States. For more information please
